| About: | If you stand outside Stonewall, you are likely to witness people pass by this bar with a look of reverent pride. Usually they are visiting the city and have made a pilgrimage to the place where, over 30 years ago, life changed forever for the city's gay community. Stonewall was the site of the infamous 1969 police raid and subsequent riot that set off the gay pride movement in the United States. It is now a somewhat touristy, upscale gay pub. Cash only. |

This is a great bar to visit for its historical value, but the the afternoon staff that was working when we visited was less than friendly and seems to ignore visitors and only caters to its regulars. The bottle beers are overpriced at $5 each during happy hour (not what is promoted on their website).
Stonewall Going Down Hill Like A Rolling Stone....: Stonewall's been around for many, many years and as the years have gone by it's lost it's flavor. I started going there 6 years ago and I'm sure it's was only a shadow of what it use to be but I found a friendly staff, older crowd which is a plus for me and a great manager. This was 6 years ago. Now after a few renovations and new security staff Stonewall is not the place to be. Although the bartenders are still cute as ever and polite, the security staff is not. Security is the rudest I've ever seen and unfortunately, they enjoy being rude. So, so long to Stonewall, I will miss my Thursday night after work cocktail but If I want to be spoken down to I'll visit my dad. Sorry Stonewall. I brought in a lot of friends, I would say about 25 some that became regulars on Saturday night, since all this happened none of them will return.
History: More of a historical thing than anything, but I liked this place.
