Beware. I called them because I lost the name of the previous technician I really liked. I was at work then the tech arrived. He diagnosed two broken pieces costing $450 which I feel he was taking advantage of the situation. One piece was replaced before the summer and the cost was $150. They quoted me $225 for the same piece which turned out to NOT be broken. I was also not provided any paperwork when the job was finished and had to send three emails requesting an invoice. Itâs my opinion theyâre very amateur doing business. I will never use again.
Came home to a 58 degree house (heater was set at 68). Called these guys after 5 pm. They answered on the 2nd ring and scheduled a 9 am appointment the next morning, but said they would try to fit me in sooner. A tech called at 6 pm and showed up at 6:30 that evening.
Spent an hour diagnosing: bad circuit board. Local Amana parts dealer should have it in stock. Will return tomorrow at 4 pm to install. $525 estimate.
At 5 pm the next day (thats right, an hour late) the tech showed up and said "The Amana guys were concerned that a 7 year old unit went bad. When I described the problem they suggested it might be the thermostat."
He spent an hour going back and forth from the furnace to the thermostat. Diagnosed it as the a thermostat problem, and replaced the thermostat. Now everything works fine.
Total cost for two visits (each over an hour) and a new, basic thermostat: $125.
Good: Quick response. Honesty. Good price.
Bad: Seems like the thermostat would have been the first thing he tested. An hour late for second appointment.
I want to update my review of Texas Air Conditioning Specialist...
Mark called me Friday morning, he could not stop apologizing over what had happened to me on Monday morning. He made it clear that he was not in the business of trying to rip people off. He told me he was reimbursing me the $65 I paid Thomas and that the check would be put in the mail that same day. I told him I appreciated the gesture and thanked him for the call.
I came home that same day and a found an envelope on my door. There was a check for $125, the intial $65 I spent with them plus the other $60 I had spent with the other company to fix my a/c problem. Most importantly, there was a written apology from Thomas, the technician who worked on my a/c. It was a sincere apology, something that I appreciate more than the refunded money.
Mark, thank you for acknowledging a mistake was made, and for your assistance in resolving this matter. You have proven to be an honest business man and as a result will not hesitate to contact TACS in the future.
